The Commissioner of the Texas Historical Commission, Thomas Alexander has purchasd the license to Randall Derrick's Looking East from Adobe Walls. Mr. Alexander, contacted Randall Derrick in April asking some specific detalis of the photograph that includes the historical Billy Dixon Ridge. Alexander, who is under contract to the Texas A&M Univeristy Press, is publishing a book that compares ancient paintings of historical battleffields in Texas with modern photographs. Randall Derrick's photograph of Adobe Walls is being compared to a 19th or 20th century painting of Adobe Walls to show the contrast of perceptions in art over an extended period of time. The book by Mr. Alexander is pending publication.
